Overview and design of automotive molds

The most important part of the automobile mold is the cover mold. This type of mold is mainly a cold stamping mold. In a broad sense, “automotive mold” is the general term for molds that manufacture all parts on automobiles. For example, stamping molds, injection molds, forging molds, casting wax patterns, glass molds, etc.

The stamping parts on the automobile body are roughly divided into cover parts, beam frame parts and general stamping parts. The stamping parts that can clearly express the image characteristics of the car are the car cover parts. Therefore, a more specific automobile mold can be said to be “automobile panel stamping die”. Referred to as automobile panel die. For example, the trimming die of the front door outer panel, the punching die of the front door inner panel, etc. Of course, there are not only stamping parts on the car body. The molds for all stamping parts on automobiles are called “automotive stamping dies”. To sum it up is:
1. Automobile mold is the general term for the molds that make all the parts on the automobile.
2. The automobile stamping die is a die for stamping all the stamping parts on the automobile.
3. The automobile body stamping die is a die for stamping all the stamping parts on the automobile body.
4. Automobile panel stamping die is a mold for punching all panels on the automobile body.
The bumper mold adopts the internal fractal structure design. Compared with the traditional external fractal structure design, the internal fractal design has higher requirements on the mold structure and mold strength, and is more complex. Correspondingly, the bumper mold design concept produced by the internal fractal structure mold is more advanced.

Automobile tire mold classification
1. Active mould, which consists of pattern ring, mold sleeve, upper and lower side plates.
The movable mold is divided into the conical surface guided movable mold and the inclined plane guided movable mold
2. Two halves of the mold, consisting of upper mold and lower mold.
Automobile tire mold processing technology

Take active mold as an example
1. Cast or forge the blank according to the tire mold drawing, then rough turn the blank and heat treat it. The tire mold blank is fully annealed to eliminate internal stress, and it should be laid flat during annealing to avoid excessive deformation.
2. Make hoisting holes according to the drawing, and then process the outer diameter and height of the pattern ring in place according to the semi-finishing drawing, use the semi-finishing program to turn the inner cavity of the pattern ring, and use the semi-finishing model for inspection after turning.
3. Use the processed tire mold pattern electrode to shape the pattern in the pattern circle by EDM, and use the sample test.
4. Divide the pattern circle into several parts according to the requirements of the manufacturer, draw the marking lines respectively, put them into the tooling, punch the back waist hole and tap the thread.
5. According to the equal parts divided in process 8, align with the scribed line and cut.
6. Polish the cut pattern blocks according to the requirements of the drawing, clean the corners, clean the roots, and make vent holes.
7. Sandblast the interior of the pattern block cavity evenly, and the color is required to be consistent.
8. Combine and assemble the pattern ring, mold cover, upper and lower side panels to complete the tire mold.
